It's considered one of the most coveted roles that one could every play in the acting world; a part in a Harry Potter movie. The box office earnings for all 8 movies was $7.7 billion; that's no small chunk of change.

Despite the success of these movies, not every actor who starred in them has found an easy and direct path to success.

While the three main roles, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson would be more recognizable, even they are still best known for their Harry Potter roles, and not much afterwards.

Chris Rankin (Percy Weasley) Had To Work In A Pub

Chris Rankin, who played head boy and a member of the Weasley family, found it difficult to find acting jobs after his time working on the Harry Potter films, despite having such a big name on his resume.

The actor recently revealed that he worked as a barman at Wetherspoon in Monmouth, South Wales for about six months when work seemed to dry up, and he needed a way to pay the bills.

Apparently, having the Harry Potter franchise on your resume doesn't necessarily mean you're destined for Brad Pitt type fame.

He Spoke About The Misconception Of Actors In High Profile Movies

The struggling actor recently told the Daily Mail, "People know actors don't get paid a lot of money, there's not a lot of work and there's a lot of unemployed actors. But there's a misconception that if you have a job in a high profile thing that it pays really well and you're made with your mansion."

He continued, "I bang on about it all the time but I worked in Wetherspoons in Monmouth for four or five months when I didn't have any other work, I needed a job and I had bills to pay.

Appearing In High Profile Movies Doesn't Guarantee Success

Unfortunately, it's not only assumed these actors can easily find work after taking part in such a big movie, but most people will only ever see them as that one character they played. This is something that the three main stars of the movie have struggled with.

It appears Chris struggled with having too much time on his hands as well, which isn't surprising after taking part in some of the most famous films to ever grace our movie screens.

He Still Attends Comic Cons, But The Golden Days Are Over

He said, "Could I not have worked there? Yes, but I would probably have gone mad sitting on my own doing nothing. As much as it's about the need to work because you need the bills to be paid, there's also something about needing to work regardless of what that is."

He continued, "You need something to do, you need to keep sane."

While Chris still attends Comic Cons and Harry Potter conventions a few times a year, unfortunately, it seems working on the films was his golden days that are now long gone.
