A new video of what appears to be the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child trailer has hit the web, and fans are wondering about its authenticity. Is It real or fake? Is the movie happening? Here is all you need to know.

Is the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child trailer real or fake?

The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child trailer is fake.

Unfortunately, the trailer that hit YouTube a day ago is fake and fan-made. One can tell it is fake by hearing the voiceover used in the trailer, which is an AI-generated voice. Another giveaway that the trailer is fake, is the usage of clips from previous Harry Potter films.

This fake trailer was made and uploaded by the YouTube channel Screen Culture. Additionally, the channel which has over 97K subscribers and has uploaded over 2.1 K videos as of writing, is known for making and uploading various fake/concept or fan-made trailers.

Moreover, there is another fake trailer of it made by this YouTube channel that hit the internet three weeks ago.

Is a Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie happening?

A Harry Potter and the Cursed Child movie is currently not happening.

Presently, it remains to be seen whether a movie happens. Currently, there is no confirmation from Warner Bros. on whether a movie adaptation of the stage play is being made.

However, speculation in 2016 suggested that a film was planned to be made when Warner Bros. applied to buy the rights to the stage play. (via SlashFilm)

Moreover, two years ago in 2021, Chris Columbus expressed interest in making a film of it in a Variety interview.
