Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Archewell Foundation faces scrutiny as it's flagged "delinquent" by California's attorney general for failing to renew registration fees. However, the foundation reportedly filed for an extension and sent out a check to the AG's office, but it was never received.

This shocking development occurred during the couple's tour of Nigeria, during which they participated in various cultural activities in the African nation and visited multiple organizations linked to Archewell and the Duke of Sussex's Invictus Games.

According to Page Six, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's foundation, Archewell, has been flagged as "delinquent" by California's attorney general, Rob Bonta, and ordered to stop fundraising or spending money.

Per the letter issued by the attorney general's office, Archewell failed to renew its official registration fees and must rectify the situation by submitting overdue payments and reports.

The letter added: "An organization that is listed as delinquent is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds."

"The organization may also be subject to penalties and its registration may be suspended or revoked by the Registry," it concluded, per the news outlet.

The foundation is now required to submit records to show why they make late payments.

The Blast understands that Archewell Foundation filed for an extension, which was sent alongside a physical check that was never received by the AG's office.

The foundation was allegedly not notified of this happening until the delinquency notice was published. Archewell has now sent out another check and is anticipating a quick resolution. If it is processed successfully, the charity foundation will be able to continue running as usual.

Harry and Meghan established Archewell after stepping down from their roles as senior royals and relocating to the U.S. in March 2020.

The organization consists of the royal couple's nonprofit philanthropic foundation and their for-profit media production-focused commercial divisions, Archewell Audio and Archewell Productions.

The delinquency filing comes after Harry and Meghan embarked on a "quasi-royal" tour of Nigeria. During their three-day visit, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex received a warm welcome and announced an expansion of their partnership with The GEANCO Foundation.

Initially focused on providing menstrual health products and educational support to girls and young women, the initiative will now incorporate mental health resources and training for both genders.

The couple also leveraged their influence to support various causes as Harry engaged in a game of sitting volleyball with disabled Nigerian army veterans, while Meghan co-hosted a women's leadership event.

During her address, Meghan acknowledged her Nigerian heritage, stating, "Thank you very much for how graciously you've all been welcoming my husband and me to this country," emphasizing "my country."

Harry and Meghan's visit to Nigeria holds particular significance for Meghan, who disclosed on her Archetypes podcast that a genealogy test revealed she is "43% Nigerian."

Since then, Meghan and Harry have acknowledged her Nigerian heritage, with Meghan expressing her desire to "dig deeper" her roots further.

During their visit to Abuja, Meghan shared a touching moment with the students, recounting how her daughter expressed seeing herself in her mother's eyes.

"My daughter Lili looked at me and said she could see her reflection in my eyes, and said, 'Mama, I see me in you and you in me,'" she shared. "As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well," she added.

The visit to Nigeria comes after Harry's presence in London for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games. However, despite being in the UK, Harry could not reunite with his estranged family, citing King Charles's busy "schedule."

Amid Charles and William's absence from the Invictus Games Foundation event, a dispute has erupted between Harry's camp and Charles' representatives.

An alleged friend of Charles who spoke to The Times lamented the situation, noting that "it's all very sad."

The friend noted: "While he was hardly going to roll out the red carpet the moment this Invictus trip was announced, with doctors advising him to focus on his treatment and recovery, the idea that he refused to find space in his diary…Well, let's say recollections may vary once again."

A member of Harry's circle reportedly countered, "Could His Majesty not have made a request to see his son? It was widely known he was coming."

However, earlier rumors that Charles declined to meet his youngest son were dismissed by palace insiders, who attributed the missed meeting to an overwhelming media frenzy. The monarch's friends also claim that Harry refused his father's offer to stay in a royal residence while he was in the U.K.
