Harry Connick Jr. recalls 'inappropriate' elevator moment with Frank Sinatra
Harry Connick Jr. has detailed an uncomfortable encounter with Frank Sinatra.
During an appearance on UK’s "This Morning," the 52-year-old artist said he "blanked out" when he tried singing for Sinatra in the early '90s. According to the Daily Mail and AOL, Connick said during the show Tuesday he attempted to catch up with the "Come Fly With Me" artist at an elevator and apologize to him for choking during the song. But Connick said Sinatra was mostly focused on his then-girlfriend Jill Goodacre.
"He looked at my wife and kind of placed her face in his hands and said 'You're beautiful,' and he kissed her right on the mouth, walked out of the elevator and that was the end of that," Connick said in a clip published online.
USA TODAY reached out to Sinatra's estate for comment.
Connick has been married to Goodacre since 1994.
The "Only You" artist said he never got to perform for Sinatra again and noted his wife loves to remind him of that story.
"I think it was probably unacceptable then; it was a situation where it was an interesting thing, but I think because of my affection for him in the context she thought it was hilarious, but obviously it's completely inappropriate," Connick said.
