Harold Perrineau Lists Micro-Compound in West Hollywood

SELLER: Harold Perrineau
LOCATION: West Hollywood, Calif.
PRICE: $2.25 million
SIZE: 2,800 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (plus guesthouse)

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Brooklyn-born bred actor Harold Perrineau has his West Hollywood micro-compound up for sale with an asking price of $2.25 million. Property record show Mister Perrineau and his wife, former model and actress Brittney, purchased the property in August 2006 for $2.05 million, and our research shows this isn’t the first time the parents of three had the property up for sale on the open market. They unsuccessfully tried to unload the house in 2007 and again in 2008 with an asking price of $2.399 million, and earlier this year they heaved it on the market with an in-hindsight overly optimistic $2.695 million pricetag.

Mister Perrineau, who has been shaking his money-maker in Hollywood since the mid 1980s, when he appeared as a nameless dancer on the TV series “Fame,” may best be known for his role as the wheelchair-bound narrator on the taut and highly sexed prison drama “Oz” and later on the hit show “Lost.” More recently he appeared in the lauded film “Zero Dark Thirty” and last year he co-starred on the first and only season of the sci-fi TV series “Constantine.”

Originally built in the late 1920s, the 2,341-square-foot, tile-roofed residence sits behind gates on a plum West Hollywood street walking distance to the Beverly Center, Cedar Sinai and all the celeb-favored shops and eateries along Robertson Boulevard. An octagonal turret entry with curved, wrought iron railed staircase is flanked by formal living and dining rooms, both with dark chocolate hardwood floors and French doors and the former with a fireplace and vaulted exposed wood ceiling. At the rear of the residence, an open-concept living area accommodates a family room with French doors to the backyard, an informal dining area, and a kitchen outfitted with solid-surface countertops on Shaker-style cabinetry, ecru-hued subway-tile backsplashes, all the usual stainless-steel appliances, and a work island with integrated three-stool snack counter. Listing details indicate there are three bedrooms in the main house, one downstairs off the living room that’s suitable as an office or den and two en-suite situations on the upper floor, including the master bedroom that opens to a slender balcony that hangs over the backyard. There’s additional living space in a detached, poolside guesthouse with voluminous ceiling, loft bedroom, kitchenette, and bathroom and the compact backyard squeezes in a lounging terrace, a heated plunge-sized pool and a spa backed by a stacked stone wall.

Property records reveal Mister and Missus Perrineau own another, smaller cottage just down the block that they picked up in February of this year for $1.31 million as well as a nondescript four bedroom and 2.5 bathroom residence in a nondescript development in suburban Las Vegas that they acquired in late 2009 for a hair less than $195,000.
