Harley and the Davidsons' Star Bug Hall on His Long (Bumpy) History with Riding Motorcycles

For longtime motorcycle rider Bug Hall, getting to play one of Harley Davidsons' founding members was the perfect role for him.

"It was a dream come true," Hall tells People of starring as Arthur Davidson in Discovery's new miniseries Harley and the Davidsons. "It literally brought me out of a mini retirement."

Hall, now 31, got his first bike – a Honda Shadow – when he was 14, and for years he was an avid rider.

"I didn't ever drive a car until a few year ago," he says. "I've been cross country 10 plus times. Then halfway across cross country 40 times or so."

With all that time on the bike under his belt, (Hall has over a million miles logged) he's had his fair share of accidents.

"I've owned about 16 motorcycles over the years and totaled 12 of them," he says. "I've spent my entire life on a motorcycle. This project is kind of the cap of my riding."

Now currently "bike-less," Hall was happy to prep for his role, which follows the iconic company's road to success.

"It was just so much fun," he says. "They put us through mechanic training. We spent three weeks breaking down Harley Davison engines and rebuilding them. Our test was the entire engine of the 1903 bike. We rebuilt it from scratch."

Hall stars alongside Game of Thrones Michiel Huisman and Robert Aramayo as Walter Davidson and William (Bill) Harley in the new series which premieres Monday at 9 P.M. on the Discovery Channel.
