In partnership with LVMH, Harlem's Fashion Row plans to introduce a new award honoring the legacy of Virgil Abloh at New York Fashion Week next month.

The Virgil Abloh Award will be presented by the late designer's wife Shannon Abloh, as part of the group's 15th-anniversary fashion show and awards scheduled for September 6. A statement explains that the accolade "celebrates like-minded individuals who embody Virgil’s spirit, brilliance and vision, through invaluable contributions to culture, community and innovation."

This year, recipients include actor Issa Rae, who will be given the inaugural Virgil Abloh Award, followed by designer Sergio Hudson for Designer of the Year; writer Robin Givhan for Editor of the Year; Ade Samuel for Stylist of the Year; and Janet Jackson for Icon of the Year.

The Virgil Abloh Award serves as an extension of HFR and LVMH's ongoing partnership as they continue to push for a more equitable and diverse fashion industry.
