Happy Pi Day, Everyone! Here Are Our Favorite Delicious Pie Cameos on TV!

“Diane, if you ever get up this way, that cherry pie is worth a stop,” begins Twin Peaks Agent Dale Cooper on one of his many rants about his favorite circular dessert.

Happy Pi Day, everyone! On March 14, we celebrate the mathematical constant pi by stuffing ourselves full of its completely unrelated homonym, pie!

The U.S. House of Representatives even recognized this holiday back in 2009. As Rep. Lincoln Davis (D-Tenn.) said, “This is a light-hearted event with serious goals. Math and science underpin our nation’s economic competitiveness and national security.” Wow, way to take all the fun out of it!

Pi is an irrational number that begins with the digits 3.14, so the 14th day of the third month, March, makes for a perfect representation of that mathematical value. In 1988, Larry Shaw, a physicist at the San Francisco Exploratorium, made the connection between the value and date and celebrated by marching around a circular room while consuming fruit pie. That’s our kind of math!

So today we salute you, pie — and not the math one but the delicious one — with this Superfan TV Pi(e) Day Celebration, including scenes from How I Met Your Mother, I Love Lucy, The Simpsons, The Big Bang Theory, What Would You Do?, Just Shoot Me, and Orange Is The New Black.
