Happy Dough Lucky's new Bay View location officially has an opening date

The Happy Dough Lucky doughnut shop, which serves mini-doughnuts and coffee, is reopening Thursday at its new Bay View location at 2691 S. Kinnickinnic Ave.

The shop will open at 7 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21. Inside, customers can check out arcade games, pinball machines and doughnut robots.

Happy Dough Lucky founder Andrew Swofford said, for its first two weeks, the shop will be open Thursday through Sunday, from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., though it may close earlier some nights if doughnuts sell out. Happy Dough Lucky will offer a rotating menu of 12 to 15 doughnut flavors, including its popular "classic" flavor, each day for the first two weeks.

Once the shop finishes hiring and is fully staffed, it will extend its hours and offer its full menu of nearly 30 flavors, which are made-to-order, Swofford said. Those interested in working at Happy Dough Lucky can pick up a paper application in-shop or call the shop. An online application will be posted on the shop website soon, as well, Swofford said.

Happy Dough Lucky will serve Stone Creek Coffee

Beginning Dec. 29, Happy Dough Lucky will serve coffee from Milwaukee-based Stone Creek Coffee, Swofford said.

"We'll have a full coffee line-up with an espresso machine. ...," he said. "Stone Creek is very excited to be back in Bay View after they closed their shop there during COVID."

Happy Dough Lucky closed its Mequon location in September

Happy Dough Lucky moved out of its location in the Mequon Public Market earlier this year, according to the doughnut shop's website. The shop had operated in the market since 2019.

This fall, Happy Dough Lucky operated out of a trailer on weekends in front of the new Kinnickinnic Avenue location as renovations were made to the building.

Happy Dough Lucky is known for its unique "loaded mini-donuts," which include recipes like "Yabba Dabba Donuts" ― cinnamon-sugar dusting, Fruity Pebbles cereal and raspberry icing, "Caramel Apple Crunch" ― apple pie filling, caramel icing, cinnamon sugar and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, and "Peach Cobbler" ― cinnamon, cut-up peaches, graham cracker crumbs and whipped cream. The shop also offers catering for groups of nearly all sizes.
