Happiness is a thrilling survival drama set against a zombie apocalypse featuring Park Hyung-Sik and Han Hyo-Joo. Directed by Ahn Gil-Ho and written by Han Sang-Woon. So far it is one of the most popular zombie K-dramas apart from All of Us Are Dead.

The storyline revolves around a young woman, Yoon Sae-Bom, who works as a special agent and is quick in her wits. On the other hand, Jung Yi-Hyun is her childhood friend and an ace detective. When Sae-Bom gets an opportunity to buy an apartment set for civil servants, she pretends to be married to Yi-Hyun. Yi-Hyun (Hyung-Sik) starts to investigate a mysterious disease. In a certain turn of events, when the disease starts to spread faster than imagined, Han Tae-Seok declares a complete shutdown of their apartment. Cutting it off from the rest of the city and leaving everyone trapped inside.

However, the series ties up all the loose ends perfectly by the end of it. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at how this survival drama ended.

Happiness: Is it a happy or a sad ending for Yoon Sae-Bom and Jung Yi-Hyun?

Spoilers ahead, by the end of the drama, the viewers find out that Jung Yi-Hyun gets infected by the zombie. On the other hand, the story unfolds in a way that shows Sae-Bom’s blood can be the cure for the disease. She gets taken away to the center to test her blood. However, Sae-Bom returns to the apartment to save Yi-Hyun. In the meantime, the drama shows what is happening in that building when Sae-Bom is taken away.

Yi-Hyun gives in to his thirst and bites Andrew (Lee Joo-Seung). The rest of the people in the apartment try to figure out whether Andrew turns into a monster or not. While all of them are still trying their best to survive, Yeon-Ok (Bae Hae-Sun) convinces everyone that Yi-Hyun (Park Hyung-Sik) is a monster. He takes Sang-Hee hostage and cuts her to bleed to ignite Yi-Hyun’s thirst. Somehow, he manages to escape and reach his room. At this moment, Yoon Sae-Bom (Han Hyo-Joo) enters the place and calms him down. They share their first kiss.

Happiness: Did Yoon Sae-Bom’s blood become the cure?

Soon after, Han Tae-Seok and an army of military personnel arrive at the building. They took everyone with them to the research facility to cultivate those who were infected but never turned after So-Yoon confessed about it. At the end of the finale episode of Happiness, a healthy Seo-Yoon runs in the arms of Sae-Bom and a cured Jung Yi-Hyun can also be seen hugging them from behind. This proves that Yoon Sae-Bom’s blood actually cured the virus and let the people return to their usual lives.

Happiness is such a drama that will keep the viewers on the edge of their seats with each twist and turn on every episode. Park Hyung-Sik and Han Hyo-Joo’s evolving chemistry received a lot of appreciation from the audience. Have you watched this K-drama yet?
