Bridgerton season two has finally dropped on Netflix, and this season is all about Anthony Bridgerton and Edwina and Kate Sharma. But while the love triangle takes centre stage, there's another slow-simmering romance that fans can't stop talking about: Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, otherwise known as Polin.
Played by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan, viewers are often teased with a potential romance between the pair, thanks to the fact they write long letters to each other and the fact she falls over his every word.
It was clear in season one that Penelope clearly had a crush on the slightly older Colin, and that things were unrequited, but what actually happens between the pair as the series goes on?
The Netflix show is based on the books by Julia Quinn, and Colin and Penelope take centre stage in 'Romancing Mr Bridgerton', book four in the series. The official synopsis explains that Penelope has always had a soft spot for her best friend Eliose Bridgerton's older brother. But, when she stumbles across his deepest secret, she worries she doesn't know him at all.
The description continues, "When Colin returns to London from a trip abroad, he discovers nothing in his life is quite the same — especially Penelope Featherington! The girl who was always simply… there is suddenly the girl haunting his dreams. But when he discovers that Penelope has secrets of her own, this elusive bachelor must decide… is she his biggest threat—or his promise of a happy ending?"
*Spoilers* The good news for fans of Polin is that they do end up together in the books, but whether that carries over to the show remains to be seen.
