Whenever the host or anchor of a TV show, whether it's local or national, misses a day or two (or more), the questions from the audience begin: What happened? What's wrong?

In this case, Robin Roberts, a co-anchor of the ABC morning show "Good Morning America," was absent on Monday, April 29. Naturally, people wondered where she was. She returned on Tuesday, April 30 — but with a cast on her arm.

Thus the question: What happened?

'My life is over right here': Brittney Griner's dramatic '20/20' interview

What happened to Robin Roberts?

On Tuesday's show, after joking around with co-anchor George Stephanopoulos about the injury, Roberts revealed that she broke her wrist playing tennis over the weekend.

Roberts also addressed the injury in a video posted on Instagram Tuesday, in which she is wearing the cast — and shows it to the camera. "Ah, you oughta see the other guy, why I oughta," Roberts says, feigning a boxing motion.

"No, I actually took a little tumble on the tennis court and fractured my wrist. All my years being a competitive athlete, my first fracture and hopefully my last one, as well."

Roberts, who conducted a prerecorded interview with Phoenix Mercury star Brittney Griner about Griner's time being held and imprisoned in Russia that aired May 1 on "20/20," played basketball at Southeastern Louisiana University.

She has been open about her health in the past: In 2007 she underwent chemotherapy for breast cancer, and in 2012 was diagnosed with a disease of the bone marrow.

Roberts was a sportscaster at ESPN before joining "Good Morning America" in 2002. She was promoted to co-anchor in 2005.
