Olivia Munn has been battling breast cancer since she was diagnosed in 2023. She has had a total of five surgeries, four in the previous year and one more recently in April. Olivia Munn reveals details about her breast cancer journey

Olivia Munn recently had her fifth surgery in her battle against breast cancer. It was an oophorectomy and hysterectomy, involving the removal of fallopian tubes, the uterus, and ovaries from her body.

It was revealed in March this year that Olivia Munn had been diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2023. This is because the actress shared a post about her health on Instagram that confirmed her diagnosis. She described the cancer as “aggressive” and “fast-moving.”

Munn recently spoke with Vogue about her breast cancer battle, detailing her whole experience to the publication. She mentioned having been diagnosed with luminal B breast cancer in both her breasts after her ob-gyn calculated her BCRA (Breast Cancer Risk Assessment) and got a concluding figure of 37%, which was enough to warrant an MRI. Olivia’s doctor, Thaïs Aliabadi, then suggested she get a double mastectomy as it had a high chance of helping the actress beat her cancer.

Munn then mentioned that she dived deep into her treatment, during which she had her partner John Mulaney, and their son Malcolm by her side. She then worked with her doctors to create an intensive treatment plan that involved four surgeries in a span of ten months. First, the double mastectomy, followed by a lymph node dissection, reconstructive surgery, and then a nipple delay.

She then took Lupron, an estrogen-suppressing drug that carried the side effect of keeping her tired. Desiring an alternative, she then opted for the aforementioned oophorectomy and hysterectomy. According to Munn, opting for her recent surgery instead of continuing Lupron, was a big decision.

However, Munn highlighted that during her time dealing with various surgeries, she had the support of various friends and family members.
