El Pasoans are gearing up for the Broadway show "Hamilton," with performances July 5-16 at the Plaza Theatre. The premiere night, July 5, is almost sold out, with many tickets for the remaining 15 shows in the aisle and balcony.

"We’re very excited for the Hamilton premiere at the Plaza Theatre," said Lauren Falco, marketing and advertising manager for El Paso Live & El Paso Water Parks.

She said great seats still are available in the second week of the run, with several of the matinees having excellent orchestra availability.

Written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical tells the story of America's past from the perspective of modern America. With music and lyrics also composed by Miranda, the show features a diverse score that blends hip-hop, jazz, R&B and Broadway genres. It is based on Ron Chernow's biography of Alexander Hamilton, one of the Founding Fathers.

The musical is produced by Jeffrey Seller, Sander Jacobs, Jill Furman and The Public Theater.

The show has drawn many celebrities to the theater, including Beyoncé; Jay Z; former Democratic U.S. President Barack Obama and former first lady Michelle Obama; Hillary Clinton; U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont; and former Republican Vice President Dick Cheney.

The show is suitable for ages 10 and older, although it should be noted that it contains some strong language and nongraphic adult situations.
