Actor Anthony Ramos opted to partake in some holiday cheer Sunday, attending the matinee performance of Lyric Theatre's "A Christmas Carol" in Oklahoma City's Plaza District.

Ramos, known for his roles in musicals like "Hamilton" and "In the Heights," posed for photos at the theater with Adrienne Irwin and Lizzie Irwin, of Mustang.

Lyric Theatre shared the Irwin sisters' celebrity meeting with Ramos Tuesday on social media, including photos taken by their father, William Irwin.

"'A Christmas Carol' at Lyric Theatre has been an Irwin family tradition for many years. We attended with my wife, Shannon, my other two daughters, Faith and Shelby, my parents, Mike and Cathy, and my brothers, Joe and Ben," said William Irwin in an email.

He explained that Lizzie spotted Ramos in the audience at this year's show.

"As the show ended, Lizzie pointed towards the back of the theatre and said, 'That guy looks like Anthony Ramos!' She is a big fan of 'Hamilton' and knows all of the original cast members. Of course, we knew it couldn't be him. When we got into the lobby and saw him close up, we were amazed! We asked him for a photo and he was very gracious and happy to do it. It made my daughters' day!" William Irwin said.

Why was Anthony Ramos in OKC?

Ramos was likely in OKC to work on the 2024 blockbuster "Twisters," which recently resumed filming in Oklahoma following the conclusion of the Screen Actors Guild strike. Ramos is co-starring with Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones in the follow-up to the 1990s Oklahoma-made hit "Twister."

The film had night shoots scheduled in Midwest City Dec. 6-10, according to a sign posted on the edge of the set line at NE 23 Street and Spencer Road, and the production also has been working this month in Chickasha and Yukon.

A Lyric Theatre spokesman said Ramos' attendance at Sunday's show was a surprise, with the actor buying his ticket online the day before with no fanfare.

It's the second celebrity sighting this year at an OKC theater performance: Members of the Grammy-winning rock band Weezer attended Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park's June 9 outdoor performance of "Much Ado About Nothing" ahead of their own OKC show June 10 at the Zoo Amphitheatre.
