Halsey’s Hair Evolution, From Blue ‘Dos to Buzz Cuts

From her teal long locks, to several short, yet bright colored cuts, Halsey’s hair has seen several different evolutions over the past few years. After a stunning start in 2015 with debut album Badlands, Halsey nabbed a Billboard cover in 2016 and the Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 “Closer” with The Chainsmokers that same year. Halsey kept up the momentum with their second album, hopeless fountain kingdom, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. It produced the top 5 hit “Bad at Love,” which was followed by hit collabs with G-Eazy (“Him & I”) and Benny Blanco and Khalid (“Eastside”), both top 15 hits on the Hot 100.

Their third album, Manic, produced the solo No. 1 smash “Without Me.” For their fourth album, Halsey teamed up with personal idols Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross of Nine Inch Nails, covering Billboard in 2021 and earning a Grammy nomination for their fourth LP, If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power, a meditation on mortality and their pregnancy.

More from Billboard

“Something really amazing happened when I did have my son, which is the absolute, glorious eradication and death of my ego,” Halsey told Billboard. “Nothing matters when I go home to him. He thinks I’m perfect and great and everything. That’s going to be a whole other beast to tackle, parental guilt, but for the time being, I’m in bliss about it. The beauty of that is that it means I’m going to create when I want to. Hopefully, that means that whatever I make is going to be something that I’m just burning to get out there. Because the only expectation I have for myself is to be a really good mom, and the rest will fall into place around that.”

As their art and life continues to evolve, Halsey hasn’t stopped experimenting with her hairstyles, either. Check out how the pop star’s hair has changed from the early days of her career to their more recent styles.
