Ariana Grande enters 'The Twilight Zone;' more great celeb Halloween costumes
It's not quite Halloween yet, but stars got busy celebrating the holiday in advance. From spooky to funny, topical to classic, these celebrities showed off buzz-worthy Halloween costumes.
Ariana Grande
You unlock this costume with the key of imagination.
The "thank u, next" songstress took to Instagram Wednesday to reveal her "Twilight Zone"-inspired costume. In her photos and videos, Grande looks almost unrecognizable, altering her face to resemble the doctors from the 1959 episode "Eye of the Beholder," about societal beauty standards.
In one post, Grande shows off her grotesque makeover in a grainy black-and-white video emblematic of the series, which aired from 1959 to 1964.

Normani
The pop princess celebrated Halloween by recreating iconic throwback fashion shots of supermodel Naomi Campbell.
The photos, posted on Normani's Instagram Wednesday, show the former Fifth Harmony member in the same leopard print one-piece, heels and hat as Campbell. She also copies Campbell's exact pose and tints her photos with the same faded filter as the original images.
"Campbell - 1991," the singer wrote.

Camila Mendes
This "Riverdale" star is dressed for adventure this year.
Mendes channeled her inner Rick Sanchez from the cartoon "Rick and Morty" in a costume complete with one of the scientist's funky gadgets, a bright blue wig, lab coat and glitter on her chin ("for his ~iconic~ drool," she wrote).
Mendes showed off her costume on Instagram Sunday, adding, "*pickle rick voice* I’M SEXY RICKKK"

"the champ is here," she wrote.

Nina Dobrev
Dobrev became a "bad guy" this Halloween.
"The Vampire Diaries" star rocked two costumes this year, displaying both on her Instagram Sunday. The actress' first look payed homage to teen music sensation Billie Eilish.
For the costume, Dobrev wore green hair, green acrylics and one of the singer's classic baggy sweaters.

For her second look, Dobrev channeled another real person: the woman who crashed a Chanel runway in October and had to be escorted off by model Gigi Hadid.
Dobrev donned the crasher's black-and-white pants and jacket and made the same jaw-dropped facial expression as the real woman did when Hadid showed her the exit.

Nicki Minaj
Why so serious, Nicki?
The "Super Bass" songstress and her new hubby Kenneth Petty are celebrating Halloween this year as one of the most sinister super villain couples of all time: the Joker and Harley Quinn.
Minaj took to Instagram Monday to unveil her look, complete with Harley's signature dyed pony tails, fishnets and baseball bat. Next to her, Petty wore full Joker face paint, green hair and a red jacket.
"Behind the scenes w/The JOKER...coming soon," Minaj wrote. "Happy HalloQueen"

Ashley Graham
Model Graham channeled her inner bad girl and dressed up as Jessica Rabbit ... a pregnant Jessica Rabbit.
She donned a red latex dress, paired with long purple gloves and Jessica's signature red hair. Graham even delivered one of Jessica's well known lines: "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way."
Her husband, Justin Ervin, transformed into pro wrestler Randy Savage, also known as "Macho Man."
The model shared photos on her Instagram page with the caption: "Macho Man knocked up Jessica Rabbit for Halloween."

Halsey and Evan Peters
Singer Halsey and Evan Peters appeared together on the red carpet for the first time Saturday at the "American Horror Story" 100th episode celebration in Hollywood. Dating rumors have swirled around the two since last month, when they were spotted holding hands at Six Flags. They haven't confirmed anything, but the Sonny and Cher couples costumes have fans wondering if the singer and actor are making things official.
USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Halsey and Peters.
For her other costume, Halsey drew on a different musician for inspiration: Marilyn Manson.
Halsey shared her turn as the edgy rocker in an Instagram post Saturday, showing herself in white face paint, blue eye-shadow and bright red hair.
"resident goths. @marilynmanson," she wrote.

Elizabeth Hurley
Hurley slayed it, a la Uma Thurman's The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo character from "Kill Bill: Vol. 1" and its sequel, in a body-hugging yellow jumpsuit. The actress/model, 54, glammed up the low-zipped costume with a blond wig and a not-so-wicked-looking Samurai sword.
Hurley's caption for the Saturday Instagram post was simply six jack o' lantern emojis.

Demi Lovato
Lovato channeled the over-the-top stylings of Marie Antoinette in what she wrote was "round 1" of her Halloween costumes. In an Instagram post Friday, the 27-year-old singer showed off an elaborate ruffled dress with a huge blond wig and flawless makeup.
"I told y’all I don’t play on Halloween!! It’s my time to shine," Lovato captioned the photos, thanking her glam team for the wardrobe, hair and makeup assists.

But that wasn't the only spooky look Lovato had in store. The singer posted another set of Instagram pics Monday of her in her second costume: Pennywise, the killer clown from the movie "It."
Along with Pennywise's classic face paint and red hair, Lovato also carried around his signature red balloon.
And, to top it all off, Lovato even put in creepy contact lenses to make her eyes blood red.
"Last night was so sick.." she wrote in the caption.

Nick Viall
Former "Bachelor" star Viall's costume channeled the franchise's new star. Bachelor Nation fans will recognize Viall as Peter Weber, a Delta Air Lines pilot and the upcoming reality show lead. Viall, 39, wore a pilot's uniform, carried a rose and stuck a bandage onto his forehead, just like the real Weber, who had to get stitches earlier this month after he injured himself while filming "The Bachelor" in Costa Rica.
"Just a Pilot on a flight for love .. will probably crash into a windmill tonight" Viall captioned the photo.

Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake
Biel channeled her husband's past as a boy band member, dressing like an NSYNC-era Justin Timberlake, crunchy frosted tips and all. Timberlake got in on the fun in a giant microphone costume.
"This is what happens when you admit on TV that you don’t know any NSYNC songs and you’re married to @justintimberlake," Biel captioned an Instagram post Saturday. "Well played, husband, well played."

Kate Beckinsale
Forget "Breakfast at Tiffany's." Beckinsale went for a snack at a convenience store. Dressed as an Audrey Hepburn lookalike, complete with a long, black dress, oversize hat and classic pearls, the model/actress, 46, posed in an Instagram photo with pal Jonathan Voluck (dressed in an Elton John-style glittering LA Dodgers costume), shopping in character for Funyuns.
