New ‘Halloween’ Movies Dated for 2020, 2021
Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions have dated two upcoming “Halloween” movies for October 16, 2020 and October 15, 2021, titled “Halloween Kills” and “Halloween Ends,” respectively.
“The saga of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode isn’t over,” John Carpenter, who wrote and directed the original 1978 film, said on Twitter on Friday. Producer Jason Blum added that the entire “gang” will be back, including Jamie Lee Curtis, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green (director of the 2018 film) and Carpenter himself. McBride, Green and Jeff Fradley wrote the screenplay.
Both “Halloween Kills” and “Halloween Ends” will be written by Green, McBride and Scott Teems and will also be directed by Green. Malek Akkad, Blum and Bill Block are producing, while Carpenter, Curtis, Jeanette Volturno, Couper Samuelson, McBride, Green and Ryan Freimann are executive producing. Ryan Turek is overseeing the project for Blumhouse.

2018’s “Halloween” grossed $225.5 million worldwide on a budget of $10 million. The film broke various records, including biggest movie opening with a female lead over 55 years old, the second biggest October movie opening ever and the biggest “Halloween” opening ever.
Curtis reprised her role as Laurie Strode, and Judy Greer and Will Patton also starred. It received a 79 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. It was Curtis’ fifth appearance in the franchise.

Currently, “Halloween Kills” will open alongside Anne Hathaway’s “The Witches,” while “Halloween Ends” isn’t competing against anything yet.
