Halloween Kills is getting a hybrid release, as the horror movie will be premiering both in cinemas and on streaming service Peacock.
Starring Jamie Lee Curtis as the avenging teen-babysitter-turned-grandmother Laurie Strode, the slasher is scheduled to release on October 15 in theatres in the US.
The twelfth film in the franchise will be available the same day on the online platform for Premium subscribers at no additional fee, reports Variety.
Halloween Kills, which is a sequel to 2018’s Halloween, will see an injured Laurie lead a vigilante mob to track down the unstoppable killer Michael Myers and end his reign of terror once and for all.

The sequel is the latest film in Universal's day-and-date release strategy after the studio inaugurated the model with animated film The Boss Baby: Family Business earlier this summer for Americna viewers.
While Universal did not release viewership figures for the suited-and-booted baby's stint on Peacock, studio heads have decided with optimism to replicate the hybrid approach for the upcoming Halloween movie.
The slasher sequel is the latest in a long line of pandemic-era releases to diverge from traditional theatrical distribution. Since cinema attendance has remained low, traditional Hollywood studios, such as Warner Bros. and Disney, have already opted to put many of their biggest movies simultaneously on the silver screen and streamers.

The same day streaming release module has been popular with viewers – who get a different and sometimes more economical way to watch a movie – and studios – who found a new income stream – but Scarlett Johansson's lawsuit against Disney for breach of contract on the mixed release of Black Widow seems to have put into question whether this is the right way forward.
While Universal attempts to grow subscriptions on Peacock, the studio remains committed to picture houses through a deal it established last year, which allows the studio to put its movies on-demand after 17 days in cinema chains.
Directed by David Gordon Green and produced by Blumhouse, news of Halloween Kills' Peacock release follows the film's premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on Wednesday, which received mixed reviews.
Halloween Kills premieres on October 15, 2021, and will be followed by Halloween Ends on October 14, 2022.
