Mad Max: Fury Road exploded onto the scene in 2015 and became instantly acclaimed as an action classic, and one of the best films of its decade. Not only did it revive the character of Max Rockatansky, but it also introduced Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa, who stole the film out from underneath its title character.

For his next Mad Max Saga, director George Miller is exploring the back story of Furiosa (played here by Anya Taylor-Joy) and what led her to the world of the Wasteland, and how she found herself caught between too tyrannical warlords.

In the new Total Film cover story, Miller and stars Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth and more spill the details on shooting the epic action odyssey, which promises more spectacular vehicular mayhem, larger-than-life characters and dystopian world-building.

Elsewhere in the issue, you’ll also find an in-depth feature on upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte, with showrunner Leslye Headland and her cast telling TF where this new instalment fits into the galaxy far, far away’s timeline. Richard Linklater, Glen Powell and Adria Arjona talk about their sexy thriller Hit Man, and Viggo Mortensen turns director again with The Dead Don’t Hurt.

Plus, Doctor Who, Twisters, George MacKay, Daisy Ridley, sci-fi actioner Atlas and loads more. And as this is TF’s landmark 350th issue, there’s a list of the greatest films to have ever graced our covers (and the worst stinkers that have ever held that premium spot too).

And as part of our new subscriber offering, if you sign up for a subscription, you’ll get instant access to the new issue in digital form – as well as a massive archive of more than 10 years’ worth of digital issues to explore.
