“Finally on the plane coming here I saw a story, I saw what’s in my heart, and realized what I wanted to share," she said, wearing a gold pantsuit for the event.

“It’s a love story at its core, but it deals with the supernatural and time travel and the future. It’s taken me the last few years to figure this out,” Berry continued.

She made her directorial debut in the 2020 Netflix film Bruised. The A-lister also starred in the movie as a retired down-and-out MMA fighter getting back into the sport.

"I was told a long time ago that if you're going to direct a story and be a filmmaker, especially your first movie, you best make it about something that you love and something you intrinsically understand," the actress-turned-director told PEOPLE at the film’s premiere. "And I love the fight game. I understand this world and I understand what it is to be a woman fighting to survive."

Berry continues to explore her talents both in front of and behind the camera with her upcoming film, Maude v Maude, in which she teams up with Angelina Jolie to co-star in and co-produce the spy thriller.

Speaking to Variety at the Red Sea Film Festival, the John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum star told the outlet that she and Jolie, 48, “had a rocky start” working on the Warner Bros. project.

“I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” Berry said of the film where she battles the Mr. & Mrs. Smith actress “physically and intellectually” on the big screen.

Thankfully, the leading ladies were able to work past their issues.

“We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that,” Berry shared.

“Warner Bros. bought our screenplay and, for us, it is about going places that have never been shown on screen before,” Berry told Variety, which reported that she was in Saudi Arabia in part to scout for locations to shoot Maude v Maude. “We plan on going all around the world,” she said.
