Halle Berry recently spoke on working with Angelina Jolie for the first time on-screen in their forthcoming film Maude v Maude, which the two actresses also produced.

While speaking with Variety recently, Berry revealed that the two A-listers’ relationship started off rather “rocky” before eventually bonding over their “divorces and exes.”

“We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” said the 52-year-old, adding that she’s “thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view.”

The Monster’s Ball star didn’t dish too much about the reason behind their initial clash, but claimed it’s a “good one.” Berry also mentioned her belief that their conflicts will help their friendship in the long run, adding that they bonded over similarities in their past relationships.

“We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes. We bonded, let’s say that,” she said without giving specific details on which relationships. Berry, who has been married three times, last divorced in 2016 from Olivier Martinez whom she married in 2013. The X-Men actress shares 10-year-old Maceo with Martinez, and 15-year-old Nahla with ex Gabriel Aubry.

As for Jolie, she is currently going through a custody battle with ex-husband and A-lister, Brad Pitt. The couple got married in 2014 before divorcing two years later. Together, they share six children: Maddox, 22; Pax, 20; Zahara, 18; Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.
