Halle Berry Just Revealed the Unexpected Reason Why She & Angelina Jolie 'Bonded'

While the world of celebrities seems to be really tight-knit, after all it seems like everyone has dated everyone at some point or another, it turns out many celebrities just aren’t that close. For Halle Berry and Angelina Jolie, who are two powerhouses in the industry in their own right, it seems like they never gelled in the past.

That is, however, until their latest project, Maude vs Maude, came to life. “We had a rocky start and I think that is going to serve us well in our screen time together,” Berry told Variety recently about the beginning of their friendship.

Now, luckily, it seems the two have patched things up. “[I’m] thrilled to work with another woman and craft a story with our sensibility and from our point of view,” Berry told the outlet. “She is formidable.”

Most of all, Berry revealed the one thing that connected them as they got to know each other: their love lives. “We’ve been talking a lot about divorces and exes,” Berry teased. “We bonded, let’s say that.”

As a reminder, Jolie ended her 12-year relationship with fellow actor Brad Pitt back in 2016. Since then, however, the two were also involved in a tumultuous divorce process, including a five-year custody battle over their six children, disputes about formerly shared estates like their Miravel Winery, and accusations of violent behavior on Pitt’s part.

Prior to Pitt, Jolie had been married and divorced twice to Billy Bob Thornton, between 2000 and 2003, and Jonny Lee Miller, from 1996 to 2000.

Berry, for her part, also has had three divorces. Berry was first married to former Atlanta Braves baseball player David Justice from 1993 to 1997, then to singer and songwriter Eric Benét between 2001 and 2005 and then to Olivier Martinez from 2013 to 2015. Currently, the actress/director is dating singer Van Hunt.

Safe to say Berry and Jolie have plenty of stories to tell when it comes to relationships and exes, we’re glad they have each other to confide in!
