As a celebrity stylist who’s dressed a number of our favorite celebrities, including Eva Longoria, Adriana Lima and Megan Fox, Maeve Reilly has become a true master in her craft. So, when it came to styling Hailey Bieber for her 2018 wedding with Justin Bieber, Reilly was up for the challenge.

Luckily, the opportunity was not only a fantastic experience for Reilly, but she learned a lot from it too. “One crucial lesson I gained from styling Hailey for her wedding is that a bride must remain faithful to her own personal aesthetic to ensure she feels her absolute best on the big day,” Reilly tells SheKnows. “Hailey possessed remarkable confidence in her choices for wedding looks and style.”

When asked what other pieces of advice she got from the experience, Reilly said brides-to-be shouldn’t shy away from asking for tips from those who are in the industry. “I would also recommend leveraging the knowledge of stylists and bridal salons,” she says. “Their expertise can be incredibly beneficial when breaking down the pros and cons of various wedding dress styles, silhouettes, and sizes.”

As for how the experience with the Biebers was as a whole, Reilly has the fondest of memories. “Not only am I proud of this look because Hailey looked absolutely stunning, but I will also always hold the memory of collaborating with the late and immensely talented Virgil Abloh close to my heart,” she says of the late Off-White CEO who passed away in 2021.

“Hailey had a clear vision for her wedding dress, and Virgil’s contribution was nothing short of breathtaking and ingenious,” she remembers. “His creativity was a gift to the fashion world, and what’s even more remarkable is how cooperative and collaborative he was to work with.”

At the wedding, Hailey wore three dresses: an Off-White off-the-shoulder wedding gown, a white halter dress from Ralph & Russo and a white slip dress by Vera Wang. “The entire experience is so close to my heart, and the memory of that wedding day is one I will cherish forever,” Reilly says.

Currently, Reilly is working with The Knot for their The Knot Drops campaign which will give a lucky member of a soon-to-be-married couple the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to consult with her for their wedding. “I couldn’t think of a better way to merge my passion for crafting unforgettable moments through style with a brand that truly empowers couples to wed their way,” Reilly says of the partnership.

In their collab, one person from the winning couple will get two 45-minute sessions with Reilly – “one to determine the winner’s vibe and one to reveal the look before the wedding.” “During the first session, I will get to know the winner’s style, personality, wedding-day aesthetic and fashion vision,” she details. “In the second, I will recommend a complete look within the winner’s budget, including attire, accessories and shoes.”

And, just in case you don’t get selected for Reilly’s personal styling, she outlined some of her top tips for brides-to-be. Everyone taking notes? “For brides-to-be, my guidance centers around discovering a gown that not only flatters your body, but, more importantly, feels like a true personification of you,” she says.

“Good style is about knowing and dressing for your body type,” she continues. “Ask yourself what you think is the most flattering thing to show off, and don’t be afraid to do just that. Highlighting your favorite parts of your body is a way to ensure you’re going to feel your most confident self. This is also a way to narrow down what can feel like an overwhelming amount of dress options.”

For wedding guests in the season ahead, Reilly recommends “lux and textured fabrics, rich jewel tones or charcoals and caramel tones.” “[They’re] a great way to feel inspired by the season and of course, you can never go wrong with black,” she adds.

Lastly, Reilly revealed her all-time favorite red carpet look she’s styled: Janelle Monáe’s Oscars look back in 2017. “It was a pretty incredible moment, It was her first Oscars and it was the perfect gown for making a dramatic statement,” she says.
