Hailey Bieber’s sister Alaia Baldwin is a model and endometriosis advocate

Hailey Bieber may make headlines with her date-night looks, wedding fashion and skincare brand, but she’s not the only Baldwin daughter making a mark.

Hailey's older sister Alaia Baldwin Aronow is a model and advocate working to raise awareness of endometriosis, a chronic medical condition affecting the reproductive system. She also keeps busy by chasing around her daughter Iris, who turned 3 in August 2023.

It’s clear the Baldwins are a tight-knit bunch. Alaia was in Hailey’s wedding to Justin Bieber in 2019, returning the favor after Hailey served as her maid of honor at Alaia’s wedding to producer Andrew Aronow in 2017. Hailey and Justin have also posted some cute snaps of themselves doting on their niece Iris.

So who is Hailey Bieber’s sister? Here’s everything to know about Alaia Baldwin.

Alaia is nearly four years older than Hailey

Alaia was born on Jan. 23, 1993, making her almost four years older than Hailey, who was born on Nov. 22, 1996.

In honor of Hailey’s 25th birthday in 2021, Alaia posted a series of sweet images of herself and Hailey. She wrote in the caption, “I’m so proud to see the woman that you have become. It has been incredible to watch you grow into your own.”

Their parents are Stephen Baldwin and Kennya Baldwin

Alaia and Hailey are the daughters of actor Stephen Baldwin and graphic designer Kennya Baldwin. The family’s no stranger to show business: Stephen’s brothers are Alec Baldwin, Daniel Baldwin and Billy Baldwin, all of whom are actors. Though Kennya isn’t in the entertainment industry herself, her father is the Grammy-winning musician Eumir Deodato.

Though their father was a famous actor, Hailey has shared that she and Alaia had a normal childhood, largely away from the spotlight. “That was always a reality,” Hailey said in a 2017 interview. “But because of the way my parents raised my sister and me, that was always separate — that was Dad’s work life. When we were home, we were just home, hanging out.”

Alaia is married to Andrew Aronow

Alaia has been married to producer Andrew Aronow since Sept. 2, 2017. Their relationship started during a vacation to Parrot Cay in 2014, where they were introduced by Christie Brinkley, according to an Instagram caption Alaia wrote in 2017. She also had some sweet words for her new husband, writing, “Even if I didn't want to, I could never stop falling in love with you.” Hailey also got a shoutout, as Alaia wrote, “Thank you @haileybaldwin for stepping up and slaying as my maid of honor.”

Their wedding took place at Blue Hill at Stone Barns in Hudson Valley, New York. Along with maid of honor Hailey, Alaia also included cousin Ireland Baldwin in her bridal party. The bridesmaids wore long black gowns, while Alaia donned a ruffled white strapless dress and floor-sweeping veil.

Alaia and Andrew have a daughter together

On Aug. 17, 2020, the Baldwin family welcomed a new member: a daughter. “Welcome to the world Iris Elle Aronow! We couldn’t be more thrilled to finally meet you,” proud dad Aronow wrote on Instagram.

Hailey also shared her excitement, writing, “Been hard to keep this to myself, my beautiful niece is here and she is PERFECT. Auntie Hails loves you sooooo much,” on her Instagram story.

Her husband Justin also posted a sweet image of himself, Hailey and Iris in August 2023.

The family recently celebrated Iris’ 3rd birthday. Alaia shared a heartfelt Instagram post in honor of the occasion, writing, “You make me so proud to be your mom every day. The moment you arrived is when my life really made sense. You continue to amaze me with your empathy, love, confidence 😆, grace and depth."

Alaia is a model

Like Hailey, Alaia is also a fashion model. She’s modeled for Philipp Plein, Tommy Hilfiger, and Calvin Klein. She’s also appeared in Harper’s Bazaar and Grazia magazines.

She spoke to Marie Claire about her approach to modeling in 2016. “One of my ambitions is to take this career and view it as art," she shared. "I think that's sort of a lost concept because everyone is so focused on social media and making money. At the end of the day when I get frustrated and get upset, I remember how much I love getting into character and creating a fashion story."

She’s an advocate working to raise awareness of endometriosis

Alaia has been public about her experiences with endometriosis, a disease in which tissue  similar to the lining of the uterus grows outside the uterus. It can cause severe pelvic pain, according to the World Health Organization.

Alaia wrote the foreword for EndoMEtriosis: A Guide for Girls, which was written by her physician, Dr. Tamer Seckin. During an interview related to the book’s release, Alaia shared that her symptoms began when she was in her early twenties.

“It was a really, really fast road to just very, very intense pain,” she shared. “It just happened overnight, pretty much.”

She also spoke about wanting to support other people, especially young women, who are going through the same thing. “That’s really been a big motivation for me to share and just be an open ear to anyone that wants to have someone to talk to or who understands. Because it can be so isolating when you’re in the middle of those pain moments by yourself. You don’t have anyone who knows what that’s like,” she said.

Alaia is also an ambassador for The Endometriosis Foundation of America and frequently shares posts on her Instagram raising awareness of the condition.

She’s close with her cousin Ireland Baldwin

Alaia is clearly close with her cousin Ireland Baldwin, daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger. Ireland has spoken about their close relationship in interviews, even crediting Alaia with saving her life during a dark period.

“(Alaia) was the one who booked the ticket from New York and came to L.A. to see me,” she shared on Red Table Talk in 2022. “She was like, ‘Something’s up. ... I sense something.’ She saved my life. I think I would have committed suicide, or I would have been dead for sure. I was so close. I could feel it getting to that point. And she saved my life. She pulled me out of it.”

Alaia was in Hailey’s wedding to Justin Bieber

When Hailey and Justin got engaged, Alaia posted a congratulations on Instagram along with a photo from her 2017 wedding. “From one bride to the next ... congratulations to my baby sister on this exciting next chapter! I love you and wish you both the best. Can't wait to celebrate with you!"

Kim Basinger (Ireland’s mother and Alec’s ex-wife) confirmed Alaia was in Hailey's bridal party in an interview, saying, “Alaia and Ireland, they’re in the wedding.”
