HAAM Day 2023 is Tuesday. The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians will take over the city with a record-setting 250 musical performances in traditional and nontraditional spaces.

Here's what you need to know:

What is HAAM?

Founded in 2005, HAAM is a nonprofit organization that provides access to affordable health care for low-income musicians in the Austin area. Over the years, HAAM has helped nearly 6,700 musicians access health care services ranging from primary care to dental, vision, hearing and mental health support.

When and where can I hear music on HAAM Day?

The short answer: just about everywhere.

Performances will kick off at 6 a.m. at the Lake Austin H-E-B with a set by dreamy R&B singer Mélat. Shows at the store will continue until 8 p.m.

Other notable daytime events include shows at the Willie Nelson statue downtown that kick off at 9 a.m. and include sets by Marcia Ball and Ray Benson between 10 and 11:30 a.m.

Trouble in the Streets and THEBROSFRESH will play at Guero's, and Bidi Bidi Banda, Shinyribs and Primo the Alien will play ABGB.

I can't make it to any music events. How else can I help?

Several restaurants, bars and retail outlets will be participating by donating 5% (or more) of their daily sales to HAAM. Participating eateries include Amy's Ice Cream, Juiceland, Jo's Coffee and Sugar Mama's Bakeshop. Bars involved are Angel's Ice House, Hotel Vegas, Friend's, Flamingo Cantina and many more.
