Beloved R&B group H-Town is back. Shazam Conner and Darryl “G.I.” Jackson released their latest single, “Strokey Doke,” back in June and recently dropped its accompanying visual.

The music video stars Drea Kelly (R. Kelly’s ex-wife) as the main love interest. Directed by N’fectious Muse and Scratch Film, the visual follows Shazam as he enters the honeymoon phase with Drea in an embodiment of foreplay and precursor for their 1993 hit, “Knockin’ Da Boots.”

Of the record, he told VIBE exclusively, “We want to make this one of the biggest honeymoon anthems. Everybody’s done wedding songs, talking about the marriage ceremony, but this is a wedding song coming from the honeymoon side.”

After moving past the traditional wedding ceremony practices, Drea slips into some lacy lingerie as she seduces her man with some risqué dance moves.

“Strokey Doke” was released under their respective, indie labels, Shazam Music and So Let’s Talk. It peaked No. 27 on the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay Chart, and upon its release, topped the U.S. iTunes Download chart.

The single was released as Shazam Conner and H-Town since Shazam launched his solo career. However, “Strokey Doke” includes vocals from all three original members including the late Keven “Dino” Conner, who died in 2003 in a tragic car accident.

Since then, Shazam and G.I have upheld the legacy of the group. They released a comeback EP in 2021 titled Date Night, which amassed over two million streams across platforms. They also are still performing alongside fellow ’90s crooners like Case, Dru Hill, Next, and Ginuwine at select venues across the country.
