H.S. Roundup: Lancaster boys split a pair of games in Florida
BOYS BASKETBALL
Lancaster splits a pair of games: The Golden Gales, playing in Orlando, Florida, split the first two games of the three they will play in the sunshine state.
The Gales defeated South Warren 49-43 in overtime in their first game. Sam Finck led the way with 20 points, Kolson Pugh added 11 and Corbin Hietikko chipped in eight points.
Lancaster lost its second game 52-40 against Wausau West. Dom Bornino led the Gales with 14 points, Dylan West had eight and Finck chipped in seven points.
The Gales are 4-4 on the season.
Licking Valley 56, Liberty Union 49, OT: Trailing at halftime, the Lions used a big third quarter to take the lead but couldn’t make it stand in an overtime non-conference loss against the Panthers.
Jacob Denney led the way with 19 points and Jackson Brown finished with 18.
Bloom-Carroll 66, Amanda-Clearcreek 37: The Bulldogs jumped out to a 38-17 halftime lead and never looked back in their Mid-State League-Buckeye Division win over the visiting Aces.
Evan Dozer led the way for the Bulldogs (7-0, 5-0)) with 23 points and Michael Whitcraft connected on six 3-pointers and finished with 18 points. Jared Rose added nine points.
Cade Young led the Aces (2-5, 1-4).
Fairfield Union 47, Logan Elm 33: The Falcons’ defense was on point in their Mid-State League-Buckeye win over the Braves.
Brennan Rowles led the way with 14 points and Caleb Schmelzer added 12.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Lancaster 56, Pickerington North 46: Led by Peyton Wilson, who finished with 19 points and 18 rebounds, the Lady Gales went on the road to pick up an Ohio Capital Conference-Buckeye Division win over the Panthers.
Jenna Grabans added 11 points and Avery Westbrooks chipped in eight points.
Bloom-Carroll 52, Cambridge 31: The Bulldogs improved to 9-1 overall with a convincing non-conference win over the Bobcats in a game that was played at Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
Emily Bratton led the way with 25 points, including four 3-pointers and Reese Pittman chipped in eight points.
