Gypsy Rose Blanchard is believed to be a victim of Munchausen syndrome by proxy, which is a psychological condition wherein a caregiver falsely claims that someone under their care, usually a child, is afflicted with an illness or injury.

Dee Dee Blanchard, Gypsy's mother, persuaded friends, family, physicians, and Gypsy herself that she was afflicted by numerous illnesses and conditions, including leukemia, muscular dystrophy, and epilepsy, leading her to undergo unnecessary medical treatments and utilize a wheelchair even though she could walk.

Upon discovering the truth, Gypsy believed that her only escape was to kill her mother, and the plan was executed in June 2015 with the assistance of her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn.

After serving eight and a half years in prison, Gypsy Rose was released on parole and has been working on her mental health and physical appearance ever since.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard's Make-Up Artist Teases Makeover

Not only has Gypsy grown out her hair, but she has decided to go blonde and get plastic surgery on her nose to make it more "feminine."

More recently, the ex-convict attended the 'An Evening with Lifetime: Conversations On Controversies' FYC event panel, where she got glammed up by make-up artist Alexis Oakley, who completely transformed Gypsy's looks.

In a video uploaded to Alexis's TikTok page, the make-up artist is seen packing her luggage as she gets ready to "glam" up Gypsy Rose. She is then seen on the phone in her car saying, "Hey girl. It's about time. Don't worry, I'm on my way."

The clip cuts to a bathroom door opening, revealing Gypsy standing behind it, who says, "Alright, let's get started."

Gypsy Rose Blanchard recently announced her new memoir, 'My Time To Stand,' as she is ready to tell her story in her own words. "I am in love with the title of my book not only because it addresses the question I get most, but because in our pain and struggle, we can find what it is that we want to stand for," Gypsy told PEOPLE of her upcoming project.

"That inside our stories, if we dare to sit in the stillness of them, our purpose can be revealed and we all have a purpose. That’s what I hope people will take away from my book," she continued.

In her memoir, readers will learn more about her upbringing and her journey. It will also help "others can [to] be inspired to walk a life of purpose and meaning and build a future sturdy enough, so others can stand for something," Gypsy said.

'My Time to Stand: A Memoir' will come out in January 2025 and is available for preorder now.
