Gypsy Rose Blanchard Addresses How The Public Went 'Gypsy Crazy' Following Prison Release

Gypsy Rose Blanchard is addressing the popularity and millions of fans she gained after her December 2023 prison release.

As The Blast reported, Gypsy Rose spent eight of her ten-year sentence behind bars for her involvement in her mom's murder. She was released on parole on December 28, 2023.

Despite the fact that she helped plan a murder, many have rallied behind Gypsy because investigators believe she was a victim of Munchausen by proxy.

Munchausen by proxy is a mental health condition in which a caregiver, in this case, Dee Dee Blanchard, exaggerates and/or fabricates illness in someone under their care, often a child, in this case, Gypsy Rose, to gain attention or sympathy for themselves.

It's considered a form of abuse and can lead to severe physical and psychological harm to the victim.

Because of this, Gypsy has gained support from millions of people, making her one of the biggest "celebrities" today. In fact, she gained millions of followers on Instagram in the days after her release, but she deleted her account because she "didn't want to live [her] life under a microscope."

A new promo for the upcoming eight-part docuseries, 'Gypsy Rose: Life After Lock Up,' has dropped, giving fans an idea of what to expect from the project. In that promo, clips of Gypsy and her estranged husband, Ryan Anderson, meeting fans and speaking to the paparazzi are shown.

"Everybody's just gone Gypsy crazy," she says as those clips run. Her popularity took over the world and social media, and just three weeks after her release, she had 9.8 million followers on TikTok and 8.3 million followers on Instagram.

However, the promo then takes a turn when Gypsy is seen sitting on the couch, revealing the death threats she has received. Another clip shows Gypsy and Ryan being followed while they are in a car.

The ex-convict had previously addressed the hate she had received, telling her Instagram followers, "Those who choose to stay ignorant about my personal growth as a person and place labels on me DO NOT influence my happiness. Spread love NOT hate."

Last month, Gypsy Rose Blanchard announced that she and Ryan Anderson, whom she married in a prison ceremony in July 2022, had decided to separate.

“People have been asking what is going on in my life. Unfortunately, my husband and I are going through a separation, and I moved in with my parents’ home down the bayou,” she revealed to her fans and followers on Facebook. “I have the support of my family and friends to help guide me through this. I am learning to listen to my heart. Right now, I need time to let myself find… who I am.”

Rumors have been circulating about why the couple made this decision, with many blaming Ryan for his behavior. Ryan, however, broke his silence and told his followers they would "see what really happened" in the upcoming Lifetime docuseries.

Claims that Ryan was verbally abusive surfaced shortly after they announced their separation, but neither Gypsy nor Ryan have spoken about those claims directly.
