UPDATE: Gwyneth Goes Skiing, the stage musical comedy parody of Gwyneth Paltrow’s infamous ski trial will slide from London to the United States, via Edinburgh, later this year, with Paltrow’s former Glee co-star Darren Criss lending some pre-recorded vocal tracks.

Producer Awkward Productions announced today on social media that the 90-minute musical, which concluded its run at London’s Pleasance Theatre on February 16, will next play at this summer’s Edinburgh Fringe, with a subsequent engagement planned for later this year at the Egyptian Theatre in Park City, Utah.

The musical stars theater actors Linus Karp as Paltrow and Joseph Martin as optometrist Terry Sanderson, with Criss and comedian Catherine Cohen lending pre-recorded singing vocals to an unspecified number of songs for the Edinburgh and Park City stagings.

“The incredible @darrencriss and @catccohen provide their stunning vocals to Gwyneth Goes Skiing as the show heads to Edinburgh Fringe and Park City, Utah – where the trial happened!,” Awkward posted today on social media.

PREVIOUS, NOV. 15, 2023: Gwyneth Paltrow’s high-profile legal battle with a 76-year-old retired optometrist over a ski slope collision has been adapted for the London stage.

Gwyneth Goes Skiing, a musical starring theater actors Linus Karp as Paltrow and Joseph Martin as optometrist Terry Sanderson, will run Dec 13 – 23 at  Pleasance London Main House Cabaret.

The production will feature original music by Leland (RuPaul’s Drag Race, Cher’s Christmas, Troye Sivan’s Something To Give Each Other). The synopsis reads: She’s the Goop-founding, Door-Sliding, Shakespeare-In-Loving, consciously-uncoupling Hollywood superstar. He’s a retired Optometrist from Utah. In 2016, they went skiing. On the slopes of Deer Valley, their worlds collided, and so did they – literally. Ouch. Seven years later in 2023, they went to court. Double ouch. This is their story. Kind of. Not really. But also, it’s at Christmas.

The play will be based around the events of Paltrow and Sanderson’s high-profile legal case, which began in March. Sanderson, a 76-year-old retired optometrist, filed the suit against Paltrow, alleging that the Shakespeare in Love actress caused a violent collision that left him seriously injured on the ground while she and her entourage continued their descent down the slopes.

Sanderson initially sued for $3 million, but after that suit was dismissed, he amended his claim and is now seeking $300,000. Paltrow filed a counterclaim, seeking legal fees and $1 in damages. The Oscar winner alleged that Sanderson was overstating his injuries and trying to exploit her wealth and celebrity. Paltrow was ultimately found not liable for the crash.

After the verdict in favor of Paltrow, the star took to her Instagram Stories to say the following: “I felt that acquiescing to a false claim compromised my integrity. I am pleased with the outcome and I appreciate all of the hard work of Judge Holmberg and the jury, and thank them for their thoughtfulness in handling this case.”

Following the verdict, Sanderson told reporters that Paltrow walked up to him and whispered in his hear, “I wish you well.” In the end, the former optometrist said that the lawsuit wasn’t “worth the trouble” adding, “I believe she thinks she has the truth.”
