Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are one of the most famous couples in the world, but even they can’t escape the plight of wedding planning in 2020.

Stefani gushed about her engagement to Shelton during an interview with Ryan Seacrest, saying they are “so excited” to get married as they’re “meant to be.” But she won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon due to the coronavirus pandemic.

When asked if she wants a big or small wedding, Stefani replied, “I would say I just want my parents there at this point.”

The “Let Me Reintroduce Myself” singer, 51, said they will wait to have any type of wedding until it’s safe to celebrate.

“My parents wouldn’t come to Thanksgiving because they’re so scared so really would rather it not be a COVID situation. Like, I would rather not have masks and that kind of thing,” she explained on Monday’s On Air With Ryan Seacrest. “Even when you cut it down to just family, it’s too many people for COVID so we’re sort of going to see what happens in the next few months.”

Stefani finds it “so funny” to say she’s “engaged.”

“It feels so weird. People have been saying it for so long, like five years, ‘Are you getting married? Are you engaged?’ And now we actually are and it feels like I’m in a cartoon or something,” she noted.

Stefani and Shelton, 44, announced their engagement on Oct. 27 after keeping the happy news private for several days.

The country singer popped the question at his ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma where they have been riding out the pandemic with Stefani’s three children. According to People, Shelton asked her sons — Kingston, 14, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 6 — permission before proposing.

“Her family very much approves of him. He’s an amazing partner and a great extra dad to the boys. Gwen is ecstatic. The proposal was a surprise,” a source told the magazine.

The singers have been together for five years after connecting on The Voice. Stefani and Shelton were going through painful, high-profile divorces at the time to Gavin Rossdale and Miranda Lambert, respectively. This will be Stefani’s second marriage and Shelton’s third.
