Over the years, there have been countless celebrity couples we never saw coming. From Bill Murray and Kelis, Bill Hader and Anna Kendrick to Renée Zellweger and Ant Anstead, many celebrity duos have totally surprised us over the years. Above them all, however, is one couple who made the whole world do a double-take: Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

And although we knew how the two officially met, aka as judges on The Voice, when they announced they were dating back in 2015, it wasn’t in any of our cards. But, according to Stefani herself, she was also equally as surprised by their connection.

“I didn’t see any of this coming with Blake,” the “Sweet Escape” singer said in an interview with People. “This was just a big old ‘What?'”

Looking back, Stefani said Shelton “changed my life.” “When I met Blake, that’s when I felt home, like, ‘Oh, this is where I’m supposed to be, with this guy,” she continued. “It was true and so automatic and such an amazing gift to be able to experience love like that for the first time it was like ‘Ugh this is it!'” How cute is that?

Together, Stefani and Shelton, who have been married since 2021, live with her kids Kingston, 17, Zuma, 15, and Apollo, 9, in Oklahoma (Stefani shares her kids with ex-husband Gavin Rossdale). “I am not really a dirt person, a bug person, I don’t like that much humidity,” Stefani said of her preferences before leaving Los Angeles. “But it’s so beautiful [in Oklahoma], and you kind of feel like you’re going into this vortex. Nature — and God — is all right there.”

A few months ago, lovebirds Stefani and Shelton announced their latest project together: a cover of The Judds‘ hit song “Love Is Alive” for the upcoming album A Tribute to The Judds to be released on Oct. 27, per E! Online. “We’ve done a lot together and written a little bit together but it’s just not enough for me,” Stefani told People of working with her husband. “He’s just a magic person so you just want more of him.” How adorable!
