A guy who sued Odell Beckham Jr. for assault and battery is now trying to bring his boss – the big bad NFL — in on the action in an effort exert some pressure on the NFL star.

According to court documents obtained by The Blast, Ishmael Temple has filed a new lawsuit against Beckham but this time he has included a request for the court to issue a writ of mandamus — an order from the court to make someone fulfill their official duties or correct an abuse of discretion — forcing the NFL to investigate its claims.

Interestingly, the writ of mandamus came up recently for the NFL after they were sued by New Orleans Saints fans who were seeking a do-over of the NFC Championship Game after a blown call against the Saints.

Temple says he wants the NFL to “investigate the criminal allegations of assault and battery” as well as the other claims Temple made in his lawsuit.

He also requests for the NFL to “[m]aintain a non-discriminatory approach to complaints or reports submitted to it by victims of NFL players who are males of African-American descent.”

Temple included a letter he wrote to NFL commissioner Roger Goodell — who, along with the NFL, is now a named defendant in the lawsuit.

He claimed in his original lawsuit (and in his letter to Goodell) that on January 14, 2018, Beckham’s security attacked as he tried to leave a house party that was held at a home Beckham was renting. Beckham himself has not been accused of assault.

Temple claims that Beckham has badmouthed him in the press since the incident.

He sued seeking $15 million in damages.

The case is ongoing.
