Guy Pearce Horror Film ‘Seventh Day’ Sells to Vertical and Redbox Entertainment, Sets 2021 Release (EXCLUSIVE)

“The Seventh Day,” a horror film with “Memento” star Guy Pearce, has sold U.S. rights to Vertical Entertainment and Redbox Entertainment.

The movie has been scheduled to release theatrically and on demand on March 26.

“‘The Seventh Day’ is a remarkably horrific film that combines powerhouse veteran talent with a true genre visionary in filmmaker Justin P. Lange,” said Vertical Entertainment co-president Rich Goldberg. “We’re excited to partner with Redbox to bring this frightening film to U.S. audiences next month.”

“The Seventh Day,” also starring Vadhir Derbez and Stephen Lang, follows a renowned exorcist team who partners with a rookie priest for his first day of training. Yet as they plunge deeper into hell on earth, the lines between good and evil blur and their own demons emerge. The film was written and directed by Justin P. Lange.

Dallas Sonnier and Amanda Presmyk served as producers alongside Chelsea Davenport and Kimberly Hwang. The film was produced by Swiss Avenue Pictures in association with Good Wizard.

Combining them with Vadhir and his off-the-chart social following in his first English language genre film is powerful,” said Jonathan Deckter, president and COO of Voltage Pictures. “This tense and taut thriller has immense audience appeal, and we couldn’t have placed the U.S. release in better hands than that of the teams at Vertical and Redbox. We know they will extract the full potential of this formidable film.”

Peter Jarowey and Josh Spector of Vertical Entertainment, and Marc Danon of Redbox Entertainment negotiated the deal with Jonathan Deckter of Voltage Pictures on behalf of the filmmakers.
