Guthrie Theatre hosting 2 events this weekend

Nov. 14—GROVE CITY — The Queen of Broad Street, Grove City's Guthrie Theatre, is continuing its near-century run of entertainment the community with two events this weekend.

This weekend the theater will hold two events, one on Friday and one on Saturday, both at 8 p.m..

Friday night will feature a dueling pianos routine by Drew Tepe and Danny McElroy. For those unsure of what a dueling piano routine is, it is a comedy-infused music routine that will feature the two pianists attempting to one up each other in order to grab the crowd's favor. They are usually heavily audience involved.

Then on Saturday the theater will host John Knight, a nationally touring stand-up comedian known for his deadpan delivery.

Pat Artise, the theater's owner, said Knight's comedy will be family-friendly and kids are welcome to come, but anyone under 21 must be accompanied by someone who is.

"If his comedy were given a rating like a movie, it would be considered PG," Artise said.

Tickets are $20 for the dueling pianos and $30 for the comedy show, or a package for both events is $40. Tickets are on sale at www.theguthrietheatre.com or at the box office at the theater at 232 S. Broad St.

Artise bought the theater in 2021 in the middle of the COVID pandemic. After a little time for renovations, the theater reopened its doors a little over a year ago.

The theater constantly brings entertainment to Grove City, hosting live music, comedy, movies and plenty more for people to see.

The venue comes equipped with a bar, food and space for over 300 guests.

While the theater tries to hold events every weekend, the building is still available for rent. The space can be used to play movies, hold bands or several other events. Artise said churches often rent the space around the holidays for Christmas movies.

"We want to let people know that the space is here to use," Artise said. "Organizations that want to utilize it and host fundraisers or events here, it's available."

Those interested in renting the theater can call Artise at 727-871-7355.
