Two-time Academy Award winner Gustavo Santaolalla will discuss his varied and storied career in a Keynote Q&A with Billboard senior correspondent Phil Gallo at the Billboard Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference, presented by First Entertainment Credit Union on Oct. 24.

This year’s conference will be held Oct. 24 and 25 at the W Hotel in Hollywood. The conference will include panels on composing, music supervision, advertising, publishing and performing plus Q&As, live performances, one-on-one sessions and networking opportunities.

Besides his award-winning work on “Brokeback Mountain,” “Motorcycle Diaries” and “Babel,” Santaolalla will discuss his latest film score, “On the Road,” his work with nuevo tango group Bajofondo and his solo album that will be released in 2013.

The conversation will also explore his artistic relationships with the directors Water Salles and Alejandro Inarittu, with whom he has worked multiple times. In addition, Santaolalla will talk about venturing into writing music for a new video game, a first for him, and his work as a producer of Spanish-speaking acts such as Juanes and Cafe Tacuba.

Santaolalla is a composer, producer, guitarist, band leader label owner and historian whose adventurous musical activity began in the mid-1960s and continues to this day. Santaolalla began scoring films in 2000 with Alejandro González Iñárritu’s “Amores Perros,” which led to him scoring Iñárritu’s “21 Grams” in 2003. A year later saw the release of Walter Salles’ “The Motorcycle Diaries,” for which Santaolalla was honored with a BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Award for his score.

After winning Oscars for “Brokeback Mountain” and “Babel,” he became only the fifth composer to win back-to-back score Oscars. The last composer to achieve that feat was last year’s Billboard Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference honoree Alan Menken.
