Guns N’ Roses have unveiled an AI-generated music video for their recent single “The General.” The animated clip intersperses a narrative story with footage of the band performing live.

“The General” was officially released in December following its live debut a month earlier. It’s also paired with the band’s previous single, “Perhaps,” on a 7-inch vinyl version. Both songs started out as unreleased demos from Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy sessions, but were newly re-recorded with guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan, who rejoined the band in 2016.

The video shows Axl Rose and the other band members performing the song, as their human forms become animated versions of themselves. Per a press release, “Between the concert footage, [the video] dives into the subconscious of a young boy who stares down the monsters of dark childhood memories, blurring worlds in the process. The result is unlike anything the band has done before and continues a longstanding historic tradition of bold visuals from Guns N’ Roses.”

The band worked on the video with Dan Potter, the creative director of London-based studio Creative Works. The end result was a collaboration between real designers and artificial intelligence.

Guns N’ Roses wrapped up their 2023 tour at the Hell & Heaven fest in Mexico City in early November. Overall, the band sold 1.3 million tickets last year alone.

As of now, GN’R have no 2024 dates scheduled. However, Slash just launched an extensive international tour with his band Slash Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators. Tickets are available here.
