Guns N’ Roses announce deluxe reissue of Appetite For Destruction, featuring 49 unreleased tracks

Guns N’ Roses are a band known for being notoriously late to take the stage, so it’s only appropriate that their 30th anniversary reissue of 1987’s Appetite For Destruction is arriving a year later than it should have. That said, the remastered and expanded Locked N’ Loaded Edition, due out June 29th, appears to have been worth the wait.

The super deluxe edition box set boasts a total of 73 tracks (49 of which are unreleased) spread out across four CDs and seven 12-inch 180-gram LPs. The original album has been remastered from the original analog tapes and will be presented across two LPs. Also included are a pressing of 1986’s Live ?!*@ Like a Suicide EP, a second EP containing B-sides from the era, and 25 unreleased recordings from the band’s 1986 Sound City sessions and two unreleased tracks from their sessions with producer Mike Clink. One of those unreleased tracks, “Shadow Of Your Love”, is streaming below.

The box set also includes seven 7-inches containing all five original singles from the album, plus one for “Patience” and another for “Shadow Of Your Love”. A Blu-ray audio disc presents the 12 tracks from the original album as newly mixed in 96kHz 24-bit 5.1 surround sound from the original multi-tracks by legendary producer Elliot Scheiner, plus five bonus tracks mixed in 5.1 surround sound by both Scheiner and Frank Filipetti. Additionally, the Blu-ray includes four iconic GN’R music videos that have been newly sync’d to both remastered stereo audio and new 5.1 surround sound mixes, plus a brand-new video for “It’s So Easy” that was shot in 1989 by the band but was never completely finished — until now.

To top it off there’s a 96-page handbound book with unreleased photos from Axl Rose’s personal archive, 12 new illustration lithos visualizing each song from Appetite For Destruction, and replica memorabilia from the era. Watch an unpacking video below.

Not surprisingly, the Appetite For Destruction: Locked N’ Loaded Edition box set sports a hefty price tag of $999.00. Fortunately, more economical versions of the reissue will also be available, including a 4 CD/1Blu-ray super deluxe edition, a 2CD Deluxe Edition, 2LP 180-gram heavyweight vinyl edition, 1 CD remaster, and digital download/streaming equivalents.
