Guinness World Record for Texas Skipping Attempted on ‘Today’

On Today, bullfighter and trick roper Javier Escamilla attempted to break the Guinness world record for the most lasso Texas skips in one minute.

A Texas skip is twirling a lasso in a vertical loop and then jumping sideways back and forth through the loop. The previous record was 80 skips, but Escamilla was feeling confident and said his goal was 100.

With a huge hat and an impressive outfit, along with a smile on his face, Escamilla got to skipping as the official Guinness World Records adjudicator timed and counted. When the minute was up, Escamilla was told that he’d met his goal exactly, getting 100 Texas skips in one minute.

An understandably out-of-breath Escamilla was awarded a certificate for his efforts, recognizing him as the new Texas-skip world record holder.
