A guide to 4th of July fireworks, parades from Tallahassee to Sopchoppy to St. George

The Fourth is with us! Secure your pets and let the fireworks begin. There will be plenty of snap, crackle, pop and booms as Tallahassee and surrounding towns celebrate Independence Day. Here's where to find the fun.

Tallahassee: Celebrate America on July 4

Patriotic spirit lights up the skies at Tom Brown Park for the Fourth of July for the City of Tallahassee's Celebrate America event. Taking place from 6-10 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, there will be live music and a spectacular fireworks display.

Taking the stage from 7:10-8 p.m. will be singer-songwriter Kade W. There will be a short interlude while the stage is reset, and Rhythm Remedy will entertain the crowd with music made for dancing until 9:45 p.m.

The fireworks display, presented by the City of Tallahassee Utilities, lights up the sky starting at 9:45 p.m.There will be food trucks and activities for children at the event. For more details about vendors at the event, visit Talgov.com/Parks. Attendees are also welcome to pack a picnic. Beer will be available for sale to those 21 and older with ID.

Since there is limited parking within the park, StarMetro, the City's public transportation department, will offer free shuttles to Tom Brown Park, picking riders up in the parking lot at Sears, 1500 Apalachee Parkway. Additional details about shuttle service will be provided at Talgov.com/Parks closer to the event. For handicap parking within the park, check with a parking attendant upon arrival at Tom Brown Park.

Basic rules for the Celebrate America event include:

  • All vehicular access to Tom Brown Park will be closed at 8:30 p.m. or earlier based on parking availability.

  • No personal fireworks (including sparklers) or grills are allowed.

  • No personal tents are permitted in the concert area.

  • No pets (except service animals) are permitted at the Celebrate America event.

In the event of inclement weather, an announcement with safety directions will be made over the main stage speakers. Bad weather could cause portions of the event to be delayed or cancelled. Day-of event information will be available at Twitter.com/COTParks and Facebook.com/COTParks.

Some amenities in Tom Brown Park will be impacted by the event. The dog park will be closed on July 4 and will reopen at 7 a.m. on July 5. The disc golf course will remain open for limited use on July 4, with some holes not playable due to event activities.

Rez Day

Party like it’s 1776 at the Rez Lakefront Park from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, for Rez Day at FSU Rez, 3226 Flastacowo Road. There will be a variety of activities like swimming and paddling, rock climbing, sand volleyball, and our challenge course, along with food trucks and music! FSU students with ID can enter for free.

4th of July Festivities at church

Tallahassee First Seventh-day Adventist Church, 618 Capital Circle Northeast, will have a family oriented 4th of July event from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, July 4, with food, music and games. Activities include a Kids Splash Zone, Giant Water Slide, music, foam machine, dunk booth and prizes.

Big D's 4th of July BBQ Celebration

Celebrate the 4th of July with mouth-watering food, live music, and good old-fashioned family fun at Big D's BBQ and Lil Boy Productions 4th of July BBQ Party from 3-9 p.m. Saturday, July 1, at 1312 South Adams St. in Tallahassee. Tickets are $10. Activities planned for all ages, include live music, games, and food. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Musical performances by local artist The Anthony Williams and more.

Sopchoppy 4th of July tradition

Sopchoppy 4th of July Parade and Festival starts with a parade at 10 a.m. and festival at 11 a.m. Fireworks start at dark at the Myron B. Hodge City Park. One of Wakulla County’s oldest traditions is the Sopchoppy 4th of July Celebration in the heart of downtown Sopchoppy. The festivities begin the morning of Independence Day with a parade, followed by a festival with arts and food vendors and live music at the Myron B. Hodge City Park, on the banks of the Sopchoppy River. The evening is capped with a fireworks display that will illuminate the sky over the picturesque waterfront. Eastpoint, Saturday, July 1

Enjoy fireworks over the Bay at the 2nd Annual Eastpoint Freedom Festival, hosted by the Eastpoint Civic Association. Fireworks will begin at dark-thirty on Saturday, July 1.

Carrabelle - Sunday, July 2

Carrabelle will host its annual fireworks extravaganza along the Carrabelle Waterfront at dark-thirty on Sunday, July 2.

Apalachicola - Monday, July 3

The Apalachicola Bay Chamber presents Apalachicola’s Waterfront July 3rd Celebration featuring all-American food vendors, live music, and fireworks at Riverfront Park on Monday. Park opens at noon, music starts at 2 p.m., hot dog eating contest at 3:30 p.m. Red, White and Blue Parade starts at 6:30 p.m. at Lafayette Park. Bands include Scratch 2020 and Ashley Morgan Band.

St. George Island - Tuesday, July 4

Everyone is welcome to join in the annual July 4th celebration on St. George Island. Stick around all day and enjoy festivities and fireworks on the beach behind the Blue Parrot Oceanfront Café at dark-thirty on Tuesday. Cool off in the St. George Island Business Association’s Wet and Wild Golf Cart Parade. Enter your boat, golf cart, or bicycle, and be prepared to get wet. Water Parade lines up at 10:30 a.m. and starts at 11 a.m. Visit the SGI Business Association on Facebook to view a map of the parade route.
