Gucci Opens a New Store in the Meatpacking District

Italian luxury brand Gucci is stepping foot in the Meatpacking District, opening a new store, while furthering its commitment to green energy.

Gucci's move to the vibrant Manhattan outpost is a natural evolution as the area's infectious creative energy and charisma certainly mirrors the brand's aesthetic. The two story space spans over 9,000 square feet, creating room for both men and women's collections, not to mention an assortment of handbags, luggage and beauty items. The new store takes inspiration from both of its homes -- New York and Florence. Traveling back in time to the '70s, the retail space is filled with futuristic and modular aesthetic as the private area walls are enrobed in a deeply saturated jade-green carpeting, referencing the intimacy and warmth of the era. Elsewhere, mirrors brighten up corners, while vintage mid-century furniture arrives in bold colors.

The latest store opening also marks Gucci's dedication to utilizing green energy as it is the first luxury brand to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification, positioning itself as a role model in sustainably built spaces. Gucci has garnered LEED certifications in more than 100 of its stores and plans to extend its accreditations to 380 of its eligible directly-operated stores by 2025.
