Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 production is under way, and the team seems eager to share the experience with fans. Last week, we got a sneak peek at Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and now, after wrapping up a “jaw-dropping” moment between Chris Pratt and Kurt Russell, writer/director James Gunn popped up on Facebook to answer fans’ questions.

Using a shaky phone-cam, the filmmaker launched an 18-minute chat that touched on various superhero and genre topics, as well as tidbits about his own much-anticipated Marvel sequel-in-progress:

— He hasn’t seen Batman v. Superman yet, but he’s a big supporter of Zack Snyder. Gunn wrote 2004’s Dawn of the Dead, which Snyder directed, and Gunn said he’s “always very grateful” for the help Snyder gave him on his 2006 film, Slither.

— His favorite GotG characters are Rocket and Groot — Rocket because he’s based on Gunn himself, and Groot because he’s based on Gunn’s dog (“and he’s like my dog a lot.”).

— Marvel’s big baddie, Thanos, has NO role in Vol. 2. According to Gunn, the new GotG sequel is less a part of the intertwined Marvel Cinematic Universe than a self-contained film.

— The Vol. 2 trailer isn’t coming any time soon, because they’ve only been shooting for 20 days (production is scheduled to end in June).

— When it comes to Captain America: Civil War, Gunn’s on “Team Iron Man.”

— He does not want to direct Star Wars Episode X.

— He’s only watched the first two episodes of Daredevil’s second season, and “I hear it gets better.”

— Some of his favorite filmmakers include Wong Kar-Wai, Martin Scorsese, David Cronenberg, and John Carpenter.
