GSN's New Show 'Window Warriors' Inspires Our List of the 6 Most Amazing Holiday Window Displays From the Movies
Window Warriors, GSN's upcoming new show, will put eight of the country's most talented window merchandisers to the test in hopes of snagging a $100,000 grand prize and a career-changing contract to design a high-profile holiday display at a major department store.
The contestants will need to win the approval of the judges, Emmy-winning TV personality Carson Kressley (Queer Eye for the Straight Guy), internationally recognized style influencer Tai Beauchamp, and master of visual merchandising Douglas Little. The show will be hosted by actress Garcelle Beauvais.
Ahead of its Nov. 15 premiere, ET wanted to showcase our top picks of movies that feature the most stunning window displays:
1. Miracle on 34th Street
As a Christmas classic, the 1947 film is at the top of our list. Who knew the original window displays in the movie were sold to Marshall & Ilsley Bank of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and can be seen in their lobby every December?
2. A Christmas Story
Fun fact: Higbee's department store in downtown Cleveland, Ohio, was staged for the opening scene in this movie where Ralphie first spies his beloved Red Ryder BB Gun in the store's Christmas window display.
3. Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf's
This documentary features David Hoey, Bergdorf Goodman's senior director of visual presentation, and follows him and his team during their holiday window preparations in 2011.
4. Window Wonderland
This Hallmark holiday favorite -- starring ET's very own Cameron Mathison! -- focuses on what happens when a store's Christmas display windows are in jeopardy when the window dresser quits.
5. Mannequin
The 1987 comedy shows us just how far window dressing can go -- in a sweet way. The department store window dresser, played by Andrew McCarthy, falls in love with the mannequin that comes to life (in the form of Kim Cattrall!).
6. Elf
And we can't forget Elf's Gimbels scenes! The Macy's in Manhattan was digitally transformed for the scenes.
Window Warriors premieres Tuesday Nov. 15 at 9|8c on GSN.
