All Grown Up! How Unbreakable Kid Star Spencer Treat Clark Came Back in Glass 19 Years Later

Nearly two decades after he played Bruce Willis’ wide-eyed son in Unbreakable, Spencer Treat Clark has returned to one of his most memorable roles.

Clark reprises his character in Glass, the third movie in the “superhuman” trilogy created by M. Night Shyamalan which revisits the main characters from the first movie including Clark, Willis and Samuel L. Jackson. They’re joined by James McAvoy’s Kevin Wendell Crumb, who made his debut in 2016’s Split, as well as series newcomer Sarah Paulson.

“When Night called me, it was such a trip,” Clark, 31, tells PEOPLE in the latest issue. “I was like, convinced this has to be him telling me that my character is coming back but they’re hiring Chris Hemsworth. It was pretty exciting.”

Since his career as a child actor in Unbreakable (2000) and Gladiator (2000), Clark has remained in the industry, most recently appearing in TV shows like Animal Kingdom, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Mad Men.

“Obviously, I’m at such a vastly different stage of my life now,” he continues. “And the landscape of the genre has completely changed. You have to remember that Unbreakable came out before all these Marvel movies. So now it’s going to be so wild for these movies to come out after our current cultural obsession of superheroes has panned out.”

Glass is in theaters now.
