“Grown-ish” Has Come to the 'End of the Road' in Star-Studded Final Season — Watch the First Teaser! (Exclusive)

The second part of the Freeform series' final season premieres March 27

It’s the beginning of the end for grown-ish.

PEOPLE can exclusively premiere the first teaser trailer for the final part of season 6, which begins with a look back at the journeys Junior (Marcus Scribner) and Zoey (Yara Shahidi) have embarked on over the course of the last five and a half seasons.

“It just all happened so fast,” Andre Johnson (Anthony Anderson) says of his kids’ time in college as he sits at a table with his wife, Rainbow (Tracee Ellis Ross), who agrees, “So fast!”

Junior takes a shot of alcohol with his friends before posing a question that seems to encapsulate the theme of the black-ish spinoff’s final installment: “Are you ready to take it to the next level?”

The teaser also shows an emotional and exciting reunion between Zoey and Ana (Francia Raisa) as the friends share an embrace.

“You know what they say – if you wanna go fast, go alone. If you wanna go far, go together,” Scribner narrates over a series of scenes from the episodes to come, including a shot of his love interest, Annika (Justine Skye), looking at him both longingly and with a look of disappointment.

Junior’s time in the limelight doesn’t last long, though, as his sister — who graduated and passed him the baton in season 5 — returns and declares, “That’s why I’m back where it all began.”

“I am no longer little brother, so I’m gonna ignore all of that,” Junior says in response, which prompts Zoey to chastise him for talking to the camera — which she claims is her move. “I can totally hear you!” she tells him, before pointing to the camera. “I invented this!”

The final season of grown-ish follows Junior as he closes out his college years and must “take his first steps into adulthood” as graduation looms.

Several original cast members, including Emily Arlook, Jordan Buhat and Luka Sabbat, will all return to guest star in the episodes, along with Druski (as Brock), Kelly Rowland, Lil Yachty, Anderson .Paak and The Free Nationals, and Latto.

PEOPLE can also confirm that Malcolm Jamal Warner will guest star as Doug’s dad Darnell, and Rich Paul will cameo as himself.

Shahidi, 24, announced that season six would be the show’s last in a YouTube video last March. "Hey grown-ish fam, it's Yara, and I wanted to share the news with you guys, our day ones, that season 6 of grown-ish will be our final season. But don't be sad, because we're going to do it up big."

She reassured fans that the final installment would have two parts — the first of which premiered over the summer — so they “still have a full year with the crew at Cal U."

She added, "You guys have been with us since season 1, and it has been such an honor to play Zoey and grow up alongside her for the past nine years. Your support over the last five seasons has really meant the world to us, the cast and crew, and we wanna take the time to thank you all for the love and support that has kept us going."

She added, "And like I said, there's still another season to go and trust me, it's gonna be big."

The spinoff’s creator Kenya Barris said in a statement that it would be "an understatement" to call the show, which premiered in 2018, "an amazing journey."

"To be able to watch Yara, Marcus and our entire grown-ish family grow up in front of (and in many ways alongside) us over these past several years has been both a joy and an honor," the statement continued. "From the stories we've told to the talent we've fostered and, most importantly, the memories made, I could not be more proud of everything we've accomplished and the -ish family I've been a part of."
