‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Recap: Runaway Bride, Improvised C-Section, and Custody Redemption

On the season finale of Grey’s Anatomy, Amelia nervously worried about marrying Owen. As she talked to Meredith at the church, she got cold feet. So the bride and her bridesmaids drove away. For some reason, they ended up getting Slurpees. It might have been the frozen drink but Amelia had second thoughts about running away and decided to head back to the ceremony.

April was put in charge of handling the rings, and when she lost them, she took Ben to help her look. The pregnant doctor then started going into labor. She told Ben, “Maybe go wash your hands because I’m going to need to you give me an exam because my water just broke. You’re probably going to see my vagina, which might be weird.” Ben replied, “You know I’m a doctor, so it’s all good.” Sadly, the baby was in danger of breach birth. With no ambulance and a ticking biological clock, Ben had to help April by giving her an emergency C-section. With a kitchen knife and no anesthesia, he cut April’s belly open, saving her baby.

At the end of the episode, Callie opened the door to greet Arizona and Sofia. In recent episodes, the two have been having a custody battle. Arizona surprised Callie by offering to share custody of Sofia. She said, “Sofia deserves to have two happy moms. I’m saying, let’s all be happy.” Callie gave an emotional thank-you to her former partner.

Greys Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
