Haunting Trip Down Memory Lane on ‘Grey’s Anatomy’
The term “complicated surgery” took on a whole new meaning in the Debbie Allen-directed Grey’s Anatomy episode, “The Room Where It Happens.” Sleep deprivation, short tempers, hurt feelings, and a whole lotta memories crowded into the O.R. while Meredith, Richard, Owen, and Stephanie worked desperately hard to save their John Doe patient.
The characters retreated into painful memories of people from their past. Each was heartbreaking in its own right, but none topped Meredith’s flashback. It involved — you guessed it — Derek. And for all those Derek and Mer fans — the never-before-seen exchange of Meredith telling Zola that her father is gone was by far the most heartbreaking Grey’s flashback to date.
Grey’s Anatomy airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. on ABC.
