‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Says Goodbye to Another Star — and Fans Don’t Know How to Feel

(Warning: Spoilers ahead for Thursday’s episode of “Grey’s Anatomy“)

Another member of the Grey Sloan Memorial team is saying goodbye on “Grey’s Anatomy.”

This week marked the final episode for actor Martin Henderson (Nathan Riggs), who has been a series regular on the ABC medical drama since Season 12.

The installment included flashbacks of Riggs and love interest Megan Hunt (Abigail Spencer) as the pair opted to leave Seattle for Los Angeles.

“I loved that we were able to give Riggs a happy ending worthy of his character and talent,” series creator Shonda Rhimes said. “As for Martin, this is not an ending for our relationship. He has been part of the Shondaland family since the pilot of ‘Inside the Box,’ and he will always be family. I can’t wait to find a new project to work with him on in the future.”

Fans took to Twitter to express a wide range of emotions to the exit of Riggs, due in part to his rocky romantic history with Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo).

“I am an emotional wreck,” one fan tweeted. “Nathan Riggs is leaving ‘Grey’s.’ I am heartbroken.”

“I’m sorry,” another viewer wrote. “So now we’re just supposed to forget about Riggs and Meredith and fall in love with Riggs and ol’ girl’s love story?”
