‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Promotes Richard Flood & Anthony Hill To Series Regulars, ‘Station 19’ Ups Stefania Spampinato

ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and spinoff Station 19 have been building an unified, seamless universe under executive producer/showrunner Krista Vernoff. Now the two Thursday dramas are making their cast promotions in unison, with one recurring player who started on the mothership series becoming a full-time cast member on the offshoot.

Richard Flood and Anthony Hill have been promoted to series regulars on Grey’s Anatomy for the medical drama’s upcoming 17th season. Meanwhile, Stefania Spampinato, who has been recurring on both Grey’s Anatomy and Station 19 having originally joined Grey’s three years ago, has become a series regular on the firefighter drama, headed into its fourth season.

“I am so excited to add Anthony Hill, Stefania Spampinato and Richard Flood to the Station 19 and Grey’s Anatomy families,” Vernoff said. “They are huge talents who made a big impact with our fans, with our casts, and with our writers who are eager to write more for them.”

Spampinato has been recurring on Grey’s Anatomy for the past three seasons, playing Andrew’s sister, Dr. Carina DeLuca. This past season, she crossed over to Station 19 where she recurred heavily as her character began dating Maya Bishop (Danielle Savre).

Flood joined Grey’s Anatomy last season as a recurring, playing Dr. Cormac Hayes, Grey Sloan’s newest pediatric surgeon. After not seeing eye to eye, he eventually takes a liking to Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), as the two bond over being widowed.

Hill is joining Grey’s Anatomy as a series regular after guest starring in a single episode last season as Dr. Winston Ndugu. He runs into Dr. Maggie Pierce (Kelly McCreary) at a medical conference, they reconnect and hit it off. They know each other from back in the day when Ndugu had worked under Pierce as a resident at Tufts.

Hill already had been on ABC and Shondaland’s radar having previously guest starred on the first season of the legal drama For the People and second season of Station 19.

Hill, who recently played a pivotal guest role on HBO’s Watchmen, is repped by Metropolitan Talent Agency and Authentic Talent and Literary Management.

Irish actor Flood played Ford Kellogg opposite Emmy Rossum in the eighth and ninth seasons of Showtime’s Shameless. He also co-starred on NBC’s international drama series Crossing Lines. Overseas, Richard co-starred in the TV3 (Ireland)/Amazon (US) crime procedural Red Rock and on the BBC’s miniseries Titanic: Blood and Steel. He is repped by More-Medavoy Management, Gersh, and Denton-Brierly.

Spampinato appeared in Ford vs Ferrari. She is also known for her starring role as Flavia in Paramount Pictures’ Italian hit Il Giorno Più Bello Del Mondo, opposite Alessandro Siani. Originally from Catania, Sicily, Spampinato had a successful career in dance and theater in Europe before moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting. She is with Industry Entertainment.
